Today, we counted ourselves lucky. Very lucky. Because we had the opportunity to celebrate the 70th birthday of one of our beloved Guests, Jimmy Parker!
We spent Monday afternoon hanging up decorations, laying out cards (he loves playing cards), putting together music, karaoke, and a dance floor, preparing his special birthday seat, and sneaking all of his friends into the cafeteria.
Then, and with great surprise, we guided him into the room. Tears of joy rolled down his cheeks, and ours, as he was greeted by all of us with a heartfelt “Happy Birthday!”
“It was good, so good,” he said of the surprise. “I’m 70 today, I can’t even believe it.”
He said it felt great to spend the day with his American Training family.
“Jimmy is always happy. He works so hard and is so nice to everybody,” said fellow Guest Paul Kimball.
“Jimmy’s been with us for a very long time. Today was a big milestone for him and we were happy to celebrate that with him,” said Colleague Amy Martens.
We like to celebrate all big milestone birthdays with a party and all birthdays with an end of the month celebration! Jimmy’s party was another great gathering of friends, food, and fun! See below for pictures from the wonderful event.
