Class Description
Just in time for Valentine’s Day, we’ve got the perfect night planned for you and someone you love. Whether that’s a spouse, significant other, life partner, parent, child, or a friend, we’ve come up with the perfect paired painting! That means you paint one painting, the person you bring paints another, and at the end of the night, the two fit together for a beautiful woodland scene. Join us at our Paint Night Fundraiser, to benefit our Creative Process Program for the Residents of our Youth Residential Program. For just $30 ($27 if you’re a current student), you can indulge in some time together while creating a masterpiece all your own. We’ll provide the wine (complimentary courtesy of our friends at Simply Elegant Catering), food, instruction, materials, supplies, and WOW! Magic, and you supply the great company. By 7:30 p.m., you’ll have created a visually stunning work of art (the beautiful trees shown here) that you can take home and hang proudly. And we’re conveniently located just up the street from Chili’s and The Chateau, so you can extend your evening with dinner and/or drinks to dish on all the fun you had here. Plus for this special love-filled Paint Night, we’ll be raffling off a wonderful prize that will be the perfect addition to your Valentine’s Day.

The holiday season is truly a WOW! Magic time of year! And it’s extra magical around the offices, homes, and classrooms of American Training!!
We kicked things off with the Christmas in Oz Open House, which you can check out here. Then we enjoyed a Winter Wonderland party at one of our youth residential homes. Our LARE Students hosted a party for the LARE family while Day Services held holiday parties at each location. Our homes celebrated with festive food and decorations. LARE ended the week with a beautiful Christmas Party for our Students and their families, with Santa in attendance. And our Andover location played host to a few concerts throughout the week, the first with Amplifi, a modified music program that our Guests participate in, and another by pianist Zach, our Colleague Dave’s son. Both were amazing and got the crowd singing along.
Check out a few pictures from our celebrations below.

Thanksgiving was more than a week long for the American Training Family!
The holiday kicked off on November 17 with our annual Highfields Thanksgiving Party. Past and present Residents of the home, their families, ATI Family included, friends, and community Partners gathered at the home for a feast of all the Thanksgiving favorites.
The tour continued to each of our Day Programs.
Everyone enjoyed an incredible and delicious Thanksgiving dinner. In Andover, the meal was prepared by Colleagues and served by wonderful volunteers from Lawrence Technical High School and the Wetherbee School. The family member of a Guest so kindly and generously donated the meal for our Lowell programs. And in Wakefield, the meal was accompanied by our homemade “Thankful Board” which detailed everything we’re thankful for this year, like our friends, family, food, shelter, health, pets, each other, and much more!
Our Lowell program even brought some food along to the Lowell Transitional Center for the Homeless. Our Colleagues said they received this donation with open arms and grateful hearts. “We were blessed to have this very generous donation and couldn’t be happier to be able to give back to our own community as well,” said Colleague Wendy Jackson.
The tour made its final stop at each of our Residential homes. Just before heading off to enjoy Thanksgiving with our own families, our Colleagues in Specialized Housing delivered fabulous pies, made just for our Residents by Buttermilk Baking, to each and every home.
Check out a few pictures from our little Season of Giving at ATI below.
We are so grateful to have so much to be thankful for. And that includes every single one of you, our American Training Family, friends, Partners, and supporters!
Congratulations to all of our Guests who were celebrated at this year’s Employment Celebration!
We recently celebrated our Guests for their years of competitive employment within the community at our Andover location on November 10. Friends, families, and employers joined us for the evening of celebration, which included more than 50 Guests, with employment at more than 60 jobs. (Some of our Guests hold more than one job!)
These jobs, as with any jobs, bring independence and pride, leaving those employed with a sense of meaning and accomplishment. We celebrated those who just started at their new jobs all the way through to those who have spent more than a decade at their current jobs. And the joy in the room was palpable.
Balloons lined the walls as photos of Guests at their jobs were plastered about the room. Delicious food from the Chateau was served as a video with comments from employers played. It was all a very powerful moment.
“Thank you for making my job so easy,” said Joe Robichaud, a job developer, to the crowd. He said their hard-work, desire to work, and dedication to their jobs made them easy to place at the jobs they wanted, the jobs that fit them.
As happy as the employers and job developers are with our Guests, it’s really about how happy our Guests are with their jobs. And thankfully, because of the individualized attention paid to each Guest’s wants and needs, each of these jobs was the perfect fit.
“I really like my job,” said Meg J. who works at Chili’s in Salem, NH. “I like my friends and my bosses. Everyone is so nice and we have a lot of fun together.”
“My job keeps me busy and I love it,” said Linda H. who has worked at Harrison’s Roast Beef for more than 10 years.
“It’s a good job,” said Frank B. who’s employed at Target “I love it. I’ve been there for 8 years. My coworkers are great.”
Everyone raved about their jobs. How much they love what they do, how much their bosses care, how wonderful their coworkers are. It was pretty inspiring to listen to them and hear how much these jobs have brought to their lives.
Check out a few pictures from the evening below:
Thank you to our wonderful job developers, our great Partners who employ our Guests, and, of course, our amazing Guests who work so hard! Congratulations!
