Highfields Thanksgiving Party 2015

Our annual, and much appreciated, Highfields Thanksgiving Party was, once again, a joyful and tasty affair. The event was held Thursday, Nov. 19, at our youth residential home.

Each year the Highfields family invites us for a delicious home-cooked meal, and each year we walk away from the table, bellies full, thinking about how we can’t wait for next year’s party!

The ATI family, graduates of the program, families of the Residents, providers, and community partners all joined together, sharing in laughs, conversation, and a buffet style Thanksgiving meal, dessert, and coffee.

When asked what they like most about the Highfields Thanksgiving Party, attendees said they love the delicious food, the great company, the familiar faces, and a moment to relax with their ATI family.

Thank you to all who joined us for the big day. Check out photos from the event below, with more to come soon.

2015 Colleague Recognition Awards

Congratulations Colleagues! Not just to those who received awards, but to all. You’re all a part of this big beautiful American Training family.

On Friday, our Colleagues took a well-deserved stroll down the red carpet at our annual Colleague Recognition Awards. This year, the event was held at the Indian Ridge Country Club on November 20. The Hollywood-themed WOW! Magic evening featured awards galore, a delicious meal, music and dancing by NRG Entertainment, and great company!

To kick off the night, we handed out Swag Bags filled with ATI swag and items donated by Enterprise Bank, Stoneham Ford, Neighborhood Health Plan, BBS Benefits, Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare, and MetLife. And we ended the evening, handing out raffle prizes of various gift cards, donated by Carol Reebenacker of Agera Energy.

But it was what was in the middle of all of that which mattered most. Between the swag bags and raffle prizes, we handed out awards; Years of Service Awards to those at milestone years, Starfish Awards to those nominated by their peers, and WOWzer! awards to those nominated by our President and CEO Tom Connors.

WOW! Magic Yard Sale

We love giving back, contributing to the community, and helping those in need. But, we often forget that even those close to us may be in need at times. So once a year, around the holidays, our Colleagues make donations to our special Wish Upon A Star Fund, a fund setup to allow us to help out our ATI family (our Colleagues, Guests, Residents, and Students) in times of need.

Though our Colleagues typically donate to the fund each holiday season, to build a fund that will allow us to assist in times of need throughout the year, this month, we raised money for the Fund in a new way. We held our first ever WOW! Magic Yard Sale to benefit the Wish Upon A Star Fund on Saturday, October 24. Through the sale of donated items (donated by friends of ATI as well as our own ATI family), we were able to raise over $800!

“It was awesome to see the Colleagues, Residents, families, and friends come together on a cold, cloudy day to support the WOW! Magic Yard Sale. We raised over $800 for for a good cause,” said Tammy Wilson, Specialized Housing Manager. “Thank you to (Colleagues) Glenys and Karen for behind the force behind this event,” she added of the event organizers.

“American Training really is a family,” Tammy concluded.

Thank you! Thanks to those who donated items, those who stopped by to purchase items, those who stopped by to make donations, those who brought hot coffee, donuts, and pizza, and those who organized and ran the event. All of you helped us raise money that will allow us to help our ATI Family in times of need. You understand Every Life Matters!

First Annual WOW! Magic Colleague Cookout

Our American Training Colleagues came together over the weekend of September 26, for an afternoon cookout with our ATI family. Nearly 200 Colleagues and family members attended the cookout, played games, and had a blast.

We bonded over delicious grilled food, cotton candy, cake, and games galore. The day provided an opportunity for our Colleagues to introduce their families to our signature WOW! Magic. We played ladder ball, cornhole, horseshoes, bocce ball, volleyball, and even a few card games. We enjoyed music, took photos in our WOW! Magic photobooth, and got competitive in our giant inflatable obstacle course.

Our Colleagues enjoyed themselves, as did their parents, children, and siblings they brought along. Check out some of the fun below in our photo gallery.

40 Under 40 Celebration

We spent Wednesday night together, as a family, celebrating our Colleagues Kaitlin, Renee and Hiedi, who were named to North of Boston Business magazine’s 40 Under 40 list of young bloods and change makers.

We are so proud of these women who are not only exceptional Colleagues, but exceptional people in all aspects of life. You can read each of their profiles by clicking on their names above.

Congratulations, Hiedi, Renee, and Kaitlin. You deserve this honor.

American Training’s Olympic Games 2015

The 2015 American Training Olympic Games were held Tuesday, September 29, at the Greater Lawrence Technical School’s athletic fields. The day began with the running of the torch by our Colleague Ivette, an athlete march led by Ivette and our Colleagues Jocelyn and Glenda, who carried our Olympic banner, and the singing of the National Anthem by our Colleague Amy, who was accompanied by the entire crowd!

The 2015 Games, our second annual ATI Olympic Games, featured the following sports and athletic competitions: football, soccer, 50m dash, frisbee throw, weighted rope pull and tennis ball throw. Roughly 100 athletes attended and participated, with even more fans in the stands, cheering them on.

Our Guests, ran, threw, pulled and played their way to personal and team victories! And we had lots of help throughout the day. Greater Lawrence Technical School not only offered us the field and stadium for the day, but they provided us with wonderful volunteers from the Health Careers Program.

Though many of the competitions were close, the top finishers for each event were as follows:
Tennis ball throw: Jeff M., Ashley, Amber, Danny, Cory
Frisbee throw: Scott, Tito, Amy, Jeffrey, Ron S.
Weighted rope pull: Tito R., Miguel C., Stephane, Lauri S., Amy
50-meter dash: BJ, Donna, Sharrifa, Tom, Jeff

Our soccer and football games were intense, but ultimately Andover claimed victory for both. Colleague Yahaira coached her soccer team to a 4-0 shutout victory over Colleague and coach George’s Lowell team. And Colleague Roberto’s Lowell team put up a good fight against coach and Colleague Josh’s Andover team, with Andover claiming a 21-7 victory.

Still, it wasn’t about who won the game or who ran the fastest, it was about getting out and competing, playing, pushing ourselves, and having a good time with our ATI family. And we had a blast together! Just check out the pictures below!

Thank you to our Colleagues who organized the event, the wonderful volunteers who helped out, GLTS for the field and help, Andover TV for filming, and our athletes for their great sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

Patriots Season Kick-Off Celebration

The halls of American Training were decked with red and blue today as we enjoyed our New England Patriots Season Kick-off Celebration! We wore our jerseys, t-shirts, hats, and sweatshirts with pride! And now, tonight, we look forward to the big game, the season opener, as they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers, and a special pre-game ceremony to celebrate their Super Bowl XLIX Championship.
