Adult Family Care the WOW! Magic Way

We are now a provider of Adult Family Care, also known as Adult Foster Care. We are bringing our signature WOW! Magic to this growing area of service need.

Adult Family Care is a program for frail elderly adults and adults with disabilities who cannot live alone safely. AFC adults live with trained paid caregivers who provide daily care. Caregivers may be family members (except legally responsible relatives) or non-family members. The program is for adults who need help with personal care, but want to live in a family setting, rather than in a nursing home or other facility.

The caregiver provides meals, companionship, personal care assistance and 24 hour supervision. Caregivers may be individuals, couples or larger families. Caregivers receive up to $1,800 as a tax free stipend per month from MassHealth to provide care to MassHealth members who otherwise would need institutional care.

We are planning an informational meeting in the near future and will be inviting anyone who may be interested in providing Family Care, or knows someone who needs Family Care. Please contact Tammy WilsonHiedi Keefer or Steve Pellerin by email if you are interested in learning more about our AFC program. Please watch this blog for further information as we move forward.

The Adult Foster Care program is steeped in the fundamental belief that people have a right to remain at home, in a community setting. This is paramount to the success of our program. Choice leads to independence and dignity for the participant, which helps foster a more meaningful and successful outcome. Dedicated and supportive care in the home leads to better mental and physical health, greater participant satisfaction and dignity, as well as a reduction in falls and reduced hospitalizations, which in turn result in cost savings to the family and the state. ”   ~ MCAFC website

It sounds like the key quality of a good care institution is the staff. My mom need some major medical monitoring throughout the day. I’ll have to consider getting a nursing home ready for her with great staff.
