Taekwondo is known for teaching focus and discipline while building confidence, which is exactly why it’s been a great fit for our Guests here at American Training.
Earlier this year, in January, our Guests earned their yellow belts at Changs Taekwondo America, and this month, they took things a step further, breaking their way to orange belts.
“This group has progressed greatly since the last testing. They’ve gained more confidence and focus through these past months,” said Instructor Leandra Torres, a Second Degree Black Belt. “We are so proud to see how far they’ve come.”
Months of weekly training led to the moment where one by one, our Guests and other individuals stepped up to break a board with a hammer fist strike.
For many, someone special held the board, often a member of the American Training Family. As they cheered each other on, they broke the boards, earning their orange belts, with friends and family watching.
“I’m so happy and proud of myself,” said Scott, a Guest and participant in the program. “I did something I’ve always wanted to do.
“It has changed me a lot,” he said of his time in taekwondo. “I’m always focusing and studying and practicing my kicks and punches.”
Scott added that he is looking forward to working toward his next belt.
Another participant and Guest, Shaun said he’s seen some changes too.
“I’ve made a major attitude change. I’m much more positive and confident, my spirit has lifted up a lot,” said Shaun. “I’m very proud of myself and I’m very excited,” he added of earning his orange belt.
Our partnership with the amazing team over at Changs Taekwondo America in Methuen has been nothing short of WOW! Magic. Together, we’ve given our Guests a Unique & Different opportunity and an Outrageously Memorable experience, and the team at Changs has certainly provided Extraordinary Customer Service.
“The group really enjoys it,” said Colleague Martha Peguero, who has accompanied our Guests on several classes throughout their time at Changs. “It’s so good for them, teaching them discipline and focus.”
She said she’s seen confidence go up throughout the group and attributes much of that to Instructor Torres. “They really like her and she understands them. There’s good communication there.”
She added that Torres is both patient and dedicated to helping our Guests succeed in reaching their goals.
As for Torres, she said, “We are excited for the future with this group and cannot wait to see how much more they grow.”
An orange belt ceremony will be planned in the near future. Check out photos from their orange belt testing below and learn more about our Day Services program here.

There are many reasons why adults consider practicing taekwondo. It is a art that is never static as we will adapt to update and improve our teaching methods and techniques. It puts a heavier emphasis on kicks and uses hands as backup. Taekwondo is really a great sports to learn.
Great post! Keep up the amazing work.
