Here at American Training, we consider our Colleagues family. It’s what creates the amazing atmosphere, our WOW! Magic culture, and one of the many reasons we were voted a Best Place to Work North of Boston.
When we heard that our Colleague Leona needed some intense yardwork done at her house, we gathered a team of Guests, Colleagues, and their families and jumped at the chance to help out.
“We worked hard in the sun, got dirty, got sweaty, and accomplished a lot,” said Adam, an ATI Colleague.
Our Colleagues Ivy, Ivette, Yahaira, Adam, Sue, Roberto, their families and our Guest George all donated their time to help Leona remove trees and build a new fence for her vegetable garden.
“I volunteered because I wanted to help Leona. I like her. She’s so nice,” said George.
Yahaira added, “Helping family makes us stronger and it made me feel closer to Leona. I hope it made her feel appreciated.”
Throughout the Saturday morning, our team cut up and stacked the wood from trees Leona had to cut down, as they were shading the garden. They also removed old chicken wire fencing, dug post holes, and built the new fence.
“To me, this was definitely family-centered,” said Leona, referring to our organization’s Core Value. “We’re so thankful for the help.”
Due to Leona’s recent heart surgery, she and her husband, who has MS, had a difficult time keeping up with the yardwork, specifically the daunting task of removing the trees and building the fence.
“It really meant a lot,” she said. “Words can’t describe how happy I was.”
To thank them for their work, Leona treated everyone to a lovely barbecue dinner at the end of the day.
“And it was delicious,” said Adam.

I always remember Leona being a very kind hearted and hard working women. I’m truly happy that ATI pulled together and helped her out! She is one of many people that deserve it. It is also so nice to see some familiar faces!!! Hope you heal well Leona!!
