Memorial Day is a recognized federal holiday in the United States, created after the end of the Civil War as a day of remembrance for those who have died while serving in our country’s armed forces. This holiday is observed every year on the last Monday of May, being the first long holiday weekend that officially kicks off the start of the summer season.
American Training thought of no better way to begin this long holiday weekend of remembrance than to host our very own Memorial Day Luncheon with a few of our very own local veterans. Colleagues and Guests honored veterans Vin Barsalou, Joe Robichaud, Joe Zuffante, and Paul Cardello as they joined us Friday, just before Memorial Day, for good food and good company, as we remembered our many fallen service men and women.
Paul Cardello and Joe Zuffante are also members of the volunteer organization iPods for Wounded Veterans, which provides iPods, iPads, eReaders and other materials to improve the quality of life for wounded Veterans as they endure the long and arduous rehabilitation process.
When Joe was asked how he was enjoying his time with Colleagues and Guests at our luncheon he stated “It’s wonderful. This place is great! It’s amazing what you people do here, the services you folks provide are incredible.”
Our Guests and Colleagues thoroughly enjoyed their time today dining with our vets. When asked what her thoughts were about hosting this very special luncheon, Guest Kathy McGillicuddy said, “It was awesome. It feels good to be able to do something nice for our Veterans.”
Check out pictures from our very special luncheon below. Happy Memorial Day to all. And a very special thank you to all of our Veterans.
